About Us

SATIRA/Hearts and Horizons is a 501-c3 non-profit community coalition.  SATIRA was established in October of 2000 and is one of the oldest coalitions in Virginia.  Our main focus is substance misuse prevention.

SATIRA provides education and training for prevention and recovery from substance misuse.  Recently, SATIRA opened a structured home in Tazewell, VA.  In addition to recovery residents, the Hearts and Horizons home has a house overseer present and living within the home to implement guidelines and provide recovery support.  This home provides a safe, clean, supportive, and caring environment in which participants can continue in their recovery.

In March of 2021, SATIRA opened a Prevention and Recover Resource Center.  In addition to prevention and recovery resources, the Center offers a safe place for anyone who is seeking recovery from substance misuse disorder.  The Center also offers support meetings and can train individuals on how to identify an overdose and administer Narcan.
